Call for Papers: INOPS Panel at Religions 360° (EASR 2026)
Published: 25 January 2026
The Interdisciplinary Network of Pagan Studies (INOPS) invites submissions for its panel at the Religions 360° Conference, organised by the European Association for the Study of Religions (EASR).
Panel: Pagan Studies — (Re)Enchanting the Old Ways
Contemporary Paganism serves as a sophisticated analytical prism through which the reconstruction, negotiation, and legitimation of religious traditions can be scrutinised under the specific pressures of late modernity. This panel brings together interdisciplinary perspectives on contemporary Paganism, with a particular focus on methodological reflection, legitimacy, and intersectional configurations. We especially welcome papers that address:
- Methodological Reconstructions: Analytical approaches to the reinvention of ritual and custom, with a focus on authenticity, lineage, and historical continuity.
- Legitimacy and the Public Sphere: Processes of recognition through which Pagan actors navigate religious, secular, and heritage-oriented public arenas.
- Intersectional Configurations: How identity is mediated through gender, ethnicity, ecological commitment, and political belonging.
